![]() I found a JDM engine importer near me who charged $800 USD for the same engine with 70,000km on it. And I’d also have to constantly monitor the oil consumption, which would only keep increasing and also likely kill my catalytic converter soon (it already had - I failed emissions the following year). He said I could probably get another couple of years on it based on the mileage, but it’d eventually die. It had excessive wear as a result of often running too low on oil. After a thorough inspection, he found that the transmission had been shoddily rebuilt once but was fixable. I found an extremely reputable, local (Los Angeles, CA) transmission shop and spoke to the owner. She gave it to me and said “Sell it, get rid of it for a tax write-off, do whatever.” ![]() Reasons being that it burned oil and had a transmission issue leaving it in limp mode permanently. ![]() In 2016, I was in your same situation when my mom was going to get rid of her (otherwise perfectly fine) 2005 CRV with almost 420,000km. Pardon any odd numbers, converting from freedom units here. I know the car is probably not worth saving but I have to lol. I’m not very car savvy so I’m sorry if these questions sound stupid. I’m wondering how much do you think it would cost? And how big of an endeavour is that? I would find a local engine but it’s near impossible. I found one in Canada that seems reputable, but they mentioned that I would have to keep the intake and exhaust manifold, water pump housing and oil pan to make it compatible, which is just fine because those are not damaged on my car. I found some websites that import Japanese engines and then ship them out. Mine currently has 189,000kms give or take. ![]() I’m in Canada and it’s been impossible to find a CRV engine under 300,000kms. I understand that it’s probably better to just scrap it, but that is not an option as this was a gift from my grandparents so I would rather spend the money on fixing it, as this car was graciously gifted to me. Hey there, so the engine of my 2007 CRV is toast and I want to swap the engine out. ![]()
